1. Open in Photoshop a photograph of the body part for adding the open wound. For example, a leg or an arm.
2. Creat a new layer. Call it "Wound".
3. Select the pen tool and draw the shape of the slitted wound. Be sure to close the path of the shape.
4. Right click the path, then choose "Make Selection". When the pop-up appears, make sure Feather Radius is zero, Anti-alias is checked, and the operation is a New Selection. Click OK to complete converting the path to a selection.
5. With the "Wound" layer active, use the Paint Bucket tool to fill in the selection with a blood red color.
6. Select the Paint Brush, choose a much darker red color, then paint along the left side of the wound selection area. The idea here is to show a perspective of the skin layer. The light red color is the perspective for the layer of skin and the dark red is the inside of the wound.
7. Create a new layer. Call it "Skin Highlight".
8. Goto Select > Inverse from the main menu. This will switch the selection so that you can work on everything except the wound.
9. Select the Paint Brush, choose a lighter shade of color than the skin that the wound is on. Begin painting a very thin line around the edges of the wound.
10. Now select the Smudge tool. Set the opacity to 30%. Begin smudging the white areas outwords so that it blends with the surrounding skin.
11. You should now have a good representation of a slitted wound on the skin. |
